Soft jazz sounds and delectable aromas filled the Rose Garden and Aratani Japanese Garden at Cal Poly Pomona’s eighth annual Southern California Tasting and Auction.
Hundreds of guests were treated to food, beer and wine samples from over 40 local vendors at Sunday’s event. Proceeds from the event benefitted the university’s academic programs and scholarships.
Live entertainment from Kenny Sara & The Sounds of New Orleans also captivated guests as they dined in the garden and visited each tent.
University President Soraya Coley expressed her anticipation for the event to the crowd.
“There’s been such a buildup for this event,” said Coley. “I’ve met more people that have said they have been coming for the past six or seven years, and they’ve enjoyed themselves. Their anticipation has been infectious for me, so I have really looked forward to joining this event today.”
According to Coley, this is the second year in a row that the event sold out.
“In addition to being delighted that you’re enjoying yourselves, I also want to thank you for the significant contribution you are making with your presence today,” said Coley. “It’s making a difference for our students, because the proceeds for this event will go to help support our academic programs and students.”
